Planning note

This page is designed to help you prepare, not replace the official operator for live updates. Car park rules, visitor centre hours, tours and event-day access can change. Always verify with thehelix.co.uk before travelling.

Parking at The Kelpies

For most visitors the decision is simple: use the main Helix car park and walk in. It is free, the route is flat and short, and you avoid the restrictions on the paid car park if you want to stay into the evening.

Most useful parking tip

If you are visiting for photos, a walk, or a night view, the free Helix car park is nearly always the better choice. A short flat walk is a small trade for zero cost and no time pressure.

Opening Times

Think of the Helix as two things with different access patterns:

๐ŸŒณ Outdoor sculptures & park

Publicly accessible all year, all hours. The sculptures are lit after dark. No booking needed.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Visitor centre & cafe

Set operating hours, seasonal variation. Confirm with the official operator before depending on it.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Inside tour

Ticketed, set time slots. Book in advance โ€” popular slots sell out on busy days.
